Homeschool families have a unique opportunity to enjoy the trails when they're at their best. While many excellent programs—such as NICA teams and clubs like BYRDS—meet after school or on weekends, OTC rides during weekday mornings when the trails are quieter and less crowded.
Our focus is simple: provide high-quality coaching in a fun, encouraging environment where every rider has room to grow. Quieter trails mean less waiting, more riding, and more opportunities to build confidence and skills along the way.
Now registered as a qualified vendor for IHLA and Overture
Season runs from August 21 through December 14. We ride in the heat and the cold, as long as we're not harming the trails.
*On days where air quality or trail conditions are not suitable for riding, we will do our best to communicate alternative activities and or locations.

Perfect for older riders (14+ or by invite) who are looking for strong and capable mountain bikers their age to ride with. This group will focus on refining their already developed skills of braking, cornering, pumping and climbing. We will instruct students on how to properly and safely ride jumps and drops. We will discuss trail safety and risk management, as well as how to safely progress to new features. Trail rides may include features like medium sized table tops, but we will not ride mandatory gap jumps.
Prerequisites
Confident on trails and ready for long, steady climbs without walking
Riders do not already need to know how to jump. If they do, that's great, but it is not a prerequisite.
Riders work in groups of 3-7, and all activities prioritize safety, encouragement, and positive growth. Parents that are interested in riding can help coach, but must attend our in-person coach training and complete a background check.
Throughout the session, riders will learn and practice:
Bike safety and trail etiquette
Braking, shifting, and balance
Cornering, climbing, and descending
Riding over rocks and small obstacles
Group riding skills and communication
Basic bike care and trail-side preparedness
We ride in light weather when conditions are safe. However, if trails are muddy or unsafe, class will shift to an indoor or covered mechanic-focused session.
Backup activities may include:
How to clean a bike properly
Tire pressure and why it matters
Fixing a flat (hands-on)
Chain care and lubrication
Brake check and adjustment overview
Pre-ride safety checks (ABC)
What to bring on every ride
These sessions are hands-on, age-appropriate, and engaging, and count as a full class.
Parents will be notified ahead of time if a weather backup plan is in effect.
Each rider must bring:
A functioning mountain bike
Properly fitted helmet
Closed-toe shoes
Water bottle
Weather-appropriate clothing
Certified instruction with age-appropriate progression
Clear group riding rules and communication
Emphasis on encouragement, not pressure
No rider is required to attempt a feature they are uncomfortable with
By the end of the session, riders will: Feel confident riding trails. Understand how to care for their bike. Ride safely with others. Associate mountain biking with fun, success, and adventure
