Mountain biking builds confidence, coordination, and resilience through active outdoor fun. Unlike many sports, no one sits on the bench — every rider participates at their own pace in a supportive, encouraging environment.
Open Trail Cycling will conduct most of our rides at Eagle Bike Park. Some skills and mechanic training will be held in Star, near the Waggin' Tails Dog Park.
Open Trail Cycling was organized by AJ Davidsen. AJ is a teacher, coach, and lifelong outdoor enthusiast based in Star, Idaho. He currently teaches piano and brass instruments and is the founder of Allegro Jams Music Academy, where he helps kids develop confidence and creativity through music.
In addition to music education, AJ has coached youth sports for over eight years. In 2022, with the help of other teachers and parents he built a school-based mountain bike team where athletes have successfully completed several NICA seasons. AJ is certified in wilderness first aid and CPR. He also has professional bike mechanic experience from George's Cycles.
AJ’s coaching philosophy is simple: meet kids where they are, prioritize safety, and make learning fun. He focuses on skill progression through games, positive reinforcement, and age-appropriate challenges. Whether a child is brand new to riding trails or looking to grow their confidence, AJ is committed to creating an encouraging and inclusive environment for every rider.
When he’s not teaching or coaching, AJ enjoys riding local trails, woodworking, and spending time with his family.
